Guadalajara
We are so excited to have you come to Guadalajara. One of the reasons why we are having our wedding here is that we want you to get a full experience of how great a city it is and see where Sahib spent time growing up. It's also a great place to party! We recommend you make this a long trip so that you can enjoy all these great recommendations below. Our suggested duration stay would be to arrive on Wednesday July 3rd, 2024 and depart on Sunday July 7th.Inside the city of Guadalajara: Do a city tour of Guadalajara. The city is very historic, artistic, and cultural. We did a 4-hour guided walking tour from the TripAdvisor website called History and Muralism: Guadalajara Walking Tour and we highly recommend it. You get to visit the Guadalajara Cathedral, downtown plazas, sample local delicacies and drinks, and visit one of the largest markets in Central and South America. Visit the Andares Shopping Mall and nearby restaurants and bars. The weather in Guadalajara is incredible almost year-round and has allowed the many outdoor shopping malls to thrive in the city. Andares is a great example of such a mall, and is a great place to walk around on a beautiful day, people watch, and grab a cocktail at one of the many bars or restaurants nearby. Other ventures near Guadalajara: Visit the cultural streets of Tlaquepaque (15 kilometers southeast of Guadalajara). We recommend you walk around the main streets of this old-town outskirt city. You will be sure to come across great food, dancers, art galleries, old churches and plazas, and maybe even some mariachi music! Start off at restaurant Agave, Casa Luna, or Cielito Lindo (all great options), then walk south to Juarez street where there are several bars, and then circle back through the Tlaquepaque central square. Visit the old town of Tequila (60 kilometers northwest of Guadalajara). It’s known for its production of the famous spirit. Near the foot of the Tequila Volcano, the outskirts of town are dotted with fields of blue agave, the liquor’s main ingredient. On your way to Tequila, grab a drink at the restaurant/bar with live music called Cantaritos el Guero #1. Visit the town of Chapala and Ajijic Jalisco (55 kilometers south of Guadalajara). These two towns are on the northwestern edge of Lake Chapala, the largest freshwater lake in Mexico. There are several nice botique hotels, AirBnB stays, and restaurants to give you a beautiful breeze and view of the lovely lake and mountainous background.
Restaurants
For guests staying at the Hilton Midtown hotel, here are some fine dining suggestions within 2 minutes of walking distance at the Midtown Jalisco shopping mall: Sylvestre (Argentinian steaks) Negroni (Italian Restaurant) Suntory (Japanese Restaurant) AC Hotel by Marriott, here are some fine dining suggestions within 2 minutes of walking distance at the Pannarama bar/restaurant hall: La Moresca (Italian Restaurant) Veneno (Mexican food)
